The KYOCERA TCR01240 is a ceramic turning insert designed for precision metal removal in demanding machining applications. Built to the TPG insert style with a triangular shape and 60-degree included angle, this insert uses an Al2O3 and TiC ceramic substrate suited for high-speed, dry cutting conditions. It features a neutral hand orientation and a positive rake geometry that reduces cutting forces. With a 3/8-inch (0.3750-inch) inscribed circle, a 1/64-inch (0.0156-inch) corner radius, and a maximum depth of cut of 0.2167 inches, it delivers consistent performance on cast iron and hard materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in toolholders requiring the TPG clamp-style holding method.
This insert is engineered for use on cast iron and hard materials, classified under primary workpiece material codes K and H, and material grades K01, K10, H01, and H10. Typical applications include external turning, facing, boring, and chamfering on CNC lathes and machining centers. It is suited for production environments where high surface speed and thermal resistance are required. The ISO code for this insert is TPGN160304T00820, and it conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards. Each insert provides three usable cutting edges per unit.
This insert conforms to ANSI and ISO insert standards under industry standard number TPG321T00320A65 and ISO code TPGN160304T00820. It is designed for use in clamp-style toolholders accepting TPG-style triangular inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and torque the clamp according to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout control.
