The KYOCERA TCR00960 is a ceramic turning insert designed for high-speed interrupted and continuous cutting in demanding machining applications. Built to ANSI and ISO standards under the ISOI series, this insert features a 55-degree diamond shape (Shape Code D) with a negative rake angle and a neutral hand orientation. The Al2O3 and TiC ceramic substrate delivers heat and wear resistance suited to hard and abrasive workpiece materials. With 4 cutting edges and an inscribed circle of 0.5 inches, it offers efficient edge utilization. The insert is held by clamp and pin methods and carries manufacturer grade A65.
This insert is intended for use in CNC and manual turning operations including external turning, boring, and copying. Its primary workpiece materials are cast iron and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material grades K01, K10, H01, and H10. It performs reliably in applications where conventional carbide tooling experiences rapid wear due to elevated cutting temperatures or abrasive workpiece characteristics. Machinists and tooling specialists working with cast iron components, hardened steel, and similar materials will find this insert suited to production turning environments.
Designed for use in toolholders accepting DNGA-style inserts with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, clamp and pin holding, and a clearance code N seating. Compatible with applications targeting ISO material groups K and H, including cast iron and hard materials.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician following the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamp surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before any insert change. Do not exceed the toolholder or machine's rated depth of cut or feed rate for ceramic insert tooling.
