The KYOCERA TBZ06008 is a cubic boron nitride (CBN) turning insert in the VNGA style, designed for high-performance machining of hard materials. Carrying the grade designation KBN25M with a MEGACOAT PVD finish, this insert delivers wear resistance and edge integrity when cutting hardened steels, cast irons, and similarly difficult workpiece materials. It features a 35-degree diamond insert shape, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The honed cutting edge style and negative rake geometry suit high-precision turning applications where surface finish and dimensional control are critical. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the primary users.
This insert is suited for external turning, facing, copying, and undercutting operations on hard materials coded H per ISO classification. The VNGA insert style with neutral hand orientation fits a wide range of standard toolholders used in production turning environments. Its multi-tipped, multi-use design allows the insert to be indexed to a fresh cutting edge, maximizing tool life across high-volume or precision machining runs. Typical applications include finish turning of hardened components in automotive, aerospace, and general metalworking settings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for VNGA-style toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch thick, 35-degree diamond insert with clamp and pin holding. Industry standard number VNGA332S00525ME KBN25M. Compatible with toolholder systems conforming to ANSI and ISO VNGA insert specifications.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque and seating procedures. Ensure the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before indexing or replacing the insert. Verify clamp and pin hardware are in good condition to maintain secure insert seating at operating speeds. Follow applicable shop safety protocols and machine lockout/tagout procedures before performing any insert change.
