Product Description

The KYOCERA SGS PRECISION TOOLS 36457 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance metal removal and finishing in demanding machining environments. Built to the ZPCR series specification, it features a 3/8 inch mill diameter, 0.02 inch corner radius, and a TX coating for extended tool life. The 4-flute, single-end design with variable helix and variable index geometry reduces harmonic vibration during cutting, making it effective for both roughing and finishing passes. It is installed by machinists and tooling technicians working in CNC milling applications.

This end mill is suited for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, as well as hard secondary workpiece materials. With an overall length of 3 inches, a length of cut of 7/8 inch (2.1654 inches decimal), and a 1-5/8 inch reach length, it handles extended-reach applications where standard-length tools cannot access the workpiece geometry. It mounts in standard end mill holders and is appropriate for vertical and horizontal milling centers running right-hand cutting direction.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide construction for rigidity and heat resistance in ferrous and hard-material applications
  • Variable helix and variable index geometry reduces chatter and improves surface finish
  • TX coating extends tool life when cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium
  • 0.02 inch corner radius with a tolerance of -0.0020 to 0.0000 inches protects the cutting edge and workpiece corner
  • Extended reach design with 1-5/8 inch reach length and 0.355 inch neck diameter for deep-feature access
  • Right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction; compatible with standard end mill holders

Compatibility

Designed for use with end mill holders in CNC milling applications involving steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Primary workpiece material codes: P, M, K, S, H.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Seat the straight cylindrical shank fully into the end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cutting cycle, particularly for tight-tolerance corner radius work.
