The KYOCERA OTM86134 is an indexable chamfer end mill designed for facing and chamfering operations on CNC machining centers and manual mills. Built to the CM toolholder series, it accepts XPMT 15T3.. style inserts secured by screw clamping and accommodates two inserts simultaneously. The cutter runs a 1 inch cutting diameter with a 60-degree lead angle, a maximum depth of cut of 0.284 inches, and an overall length of 3.15 inches. The 0.75 inch shank features a whistle notch for positive drive engagement. This tool is selected by machinists and toolroom technicians running high-volume chamfering or spot-facing work where insert indexability reduces per-edge tooling cost.
The OTM86134 is suited for use in production and job-shop environments where consistent chamfer geometry and repeatable edge prep are required. Its right-hand cutting direction and screw-held insert clamping make it compatible with standard CNC turning centers and vertical machining centers. The CM series toolholder style is a recognized platform for modular insert tooling setups. Typical applications include chamfering part edges, spot facing bolt hole patterns, and light facing passes on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. This tool does not incorporate coolant-through capability, so external coolant delivery or flood coolant is the expected method.
Compatible insert size codes: XPMT 15T304, XPMT 15T308, XPMT 15T316, XPMT 15T324, XPMT 15T331, and XPMT 15T364. Designed for use with CM series toolholders accepting a 0.75 inch whistle notch shank.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in an emergency-stop or locked-out state per applicable shop safety procedures. Secure the whistle notch shank to the specified torque for the toolholder manufacturer's clamping screw before running. Insert indexing or replacement requires a torx or hex key appropriate to the insert screw size — confirm the correct key before service. Coolant-through is not supported on this body; verify that external or flood coolant is directed at the cutting zone to manage chip evacuation and tool temperature.
