The KYOCERA OTM86123 is an indexable chamfer end mill designed for facing operations in metalworking and machining applications. It features a 20-degree lead angle and a 1-inch cutting diameter, accepting XPMT 15T3 series inserts held in place by screw-clamping. The tool runs two inserts simultaneously, which supports consistent chip load distribution during chamfering passes. Overall length is 3.15 inches, with a 0.75-inch shank diameter configured with a whistle notch for secure toolholder engagement. Maximum depth of cut is 0.547 inches. This is a right-hand cutting tool compatible with CM-series toolholders. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators install and run this type of tooling on milling machines and machining centers.
The OTM86123 is suited for chamfering and facing work on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces in production and job-shop environments. The CM-series toolholder system keeps setup straightforward, and the whistle notch shank provides positive retention in standard milling collet and side-lock holders. The XPMT 15T3 insert platform offers a wide range of available grades and geometries, allowing the operator to match the insert to the specific material and surface-finish requirement without changing the body.
Compatible insert size codes include XPMT 15T304, XPMT 15T308, XPMT 15T316, XPMT 15T324, XPMT 15T331, and XPMT 15T364. Designed for use with CM-series toolholders. Insert style is XPMT 15T3.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician with the machine powered off and the spindle fully stopped. Torque the insert-clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification using the correct Torx or hex key. Confirm shank seating in the toolholder before spindle engagement. Inspect insert seating pockets and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before each insert change.
