The KYOCERA 8863001 is a ceramic turning insert with the ISO designation SNGA432T00625, coated with aluminum oxide (Al2O3) and titanium carbide (TiC) via a PVD process using the PT600M grade. The insert features a square shape with a 90-degree included angle, a neutral hand orientation, and a negative rake geometry. With an inscribed circle of 0.5 inches and a corner radius of 0.0313 inches, it delivers consistent cutting performance in demanding machining operations. The ceramic substrate and PVD coating make it well suited for high-hardness and abrasion-resistant applications. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, production turning cells, or tool rooms are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is intended for use on hard materials and cast iron workpieces, covering ISO material grades K01 and K10. It supports multiple operations including boring, chamfering, external turning, and facing. The negative rake geometry and N clearance code (zero-degree relief angle) are standard for ceramic inserts running at high cutting speeds with rigid setups. The insert is held by clamp and pin, making it compatible with standard SNGA-style toolholders commonly found in CNC lathes and turning centers across both light and heavy production environments.
Designed for use in SNGA-style toolholders accepting a 0.5 inch inscribed circle square insert with clamp and pin holding. Primary workpiece material compatibility is hard material (ISO code H) and cast iron (ISO code K), with material grades K01 and K10. Compatible toolholder systems must accommodate the N clearance, G tolerance, and 3/16 inch insert thickness of the SNGA432 form factor.
Installation is performed by machining professionals following standard CNC toolroom procedures. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamp pin are clean and free of chips before installing to maintain proper insert seating and prevent premature edge failure. Ceramic inserts require rigid setups and sufficient machine rigidity; avoid interrupted cuts or low-speed applications that fall outside the design intent of this insert grade.
