The KYOCERA 8860947 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation XPMT15T308 and manufacturer grade PR1535. It is a single-sided, parallelogram-profile insert with a positive rake geometry and an 11-degree relief angle. The cutting edge is honed for clean engagement, and the insert is finished with KYOCERA MEGACOAT NANO coating applied via PVD process. With an inscribed circle of 0.3752 inches, a thickness of 0.1563 inches, and a corner radius of 0.0312 inches, this insert is engineered for precision milling applications where edge integrity and coating adhesion are critical. It is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians using screw-held tooling systems.
This insert is designed for primary use in milling stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, with secondary capability across steel, cast iron, and additional stainless steel and superalloy grades. It is compatible with KYOCERA cutter series EM, EM-LE, FM-RH, and CM under the OTMM series platform. Typical install scenarios include face milling, shoulder milling, and profile milling operations on CNC machining centers in both job shop and production environments. The neutral hand orientation supports use in a variety of fixture and spindle configurations. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.6071 inches, making it suitable for moderate to aggressive stock removal passes.
Compatible with KYOCERA OTMM series cutter bodies including EM, EM-LE, FM-RH, and CM series. Suitable for primary workpiece materials coded M and S (stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium) and secondary materials coded P, M, K, and S (steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys).
Installation is performed by qualified CNC tooling technicians or machinists. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to engage the insert screw and secure the insert flush in the pocket seat. Inspect the pocket and screw threads for damage before each insert change to prevent premature failure or vibration during cut.
