The KYOCERA 8858932 is a solid carbide milling insert in the XPMT style, designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding milling applications. It carries the CA6535 manufacturer grade and features a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides thermal resistance and wear protection during continuous and interrupted cuts. The insert measures 0.3750 inches in inscribed circle diameter and 0.1563 inches thick, with a 0.0625-inch corner radius. The parallelogram insert shape and positive rake geometry reduce cutting forces, making this insert well suited to finishing and semi-finishing operations on difficult-to-machine materials.
This insert is engineered primarily for milling stainless steel and secondarily for superalloys and titanium, where edge toughness and coating durability are critical. It fits into the OTMM series tooling system and is compatible with cutter series EM, EM-LE, FM-RH, and CM. With a neutral hand orientation, a honed and tough cutting edge style, and a maximum depth of cut of 0.6071 inches, it suits both roughing passes and precision finishing in aerospace, medical, and industrial machining environments. The screw-in insert holding method provides secure seating in compatible cutter bodies. This is a single-sided insert with two cutting edges per insert.
Designed for use with KYOCERA OTMM series cutter bodies in the EM, EM-LE, FM-RH, and CM cutter series. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standard code XPMT15T316CA6535.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the cutter body is removed from the spindle and the machine is powered down and locked out before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key driver to seat the insert screw to the cutter body manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before placing the new insert to ensure proper seating and runout control.
