The KWIKSET 730HFLRDT-4 is a Halifax-style lever privacy door lock finished in Satin Brass. It ships as a complete assembly that includes a round rose trim plate, a 6AL latch, and an RCS strike plate, reducing the need for separate hardware sourcing on the job. The privacy function uses a push-button or turn-button interior lock that releases from the outside with an emergency unlock tool, making it the correct choice for bathrooms, bedrooms, and similar interior rooms where occupant privacy is required but emergency access must remain possible. Residential carpenters, finish contractors, and general contractors are the typical installers.
This lock is intended for interior residential door applications where a privacy function is required. Common install locations include master bedrooms, guest bedrooms, bathrooms, and home office doors. The Halifax lever design fits standard residential door prep with a standard cross-bore layout. The complete kit format — lever, round rose, 6AL latch, and RCS strike — means the installer receives all hardware needed for a single-door installation in one package. The Satin Brass finish coordinates with a wide range of interior hardware finishes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation privacy lever for standard residential interior doors with a standard cross-bore door prep.
Installation is typically performed by a finish carpenter, general contractor, or experienced DIYer using a drill, hole saw, and chisel for mortising the latch face plate. Confirm the door thickness and backset measurement before beginning — most residential doors accept a 2-3/8-inch or 2-3/4-inch backset, and the correct latch must be selected accordingly. Do not over-tighten the through-bolt screws, as excess torque can cause the rose or lever to bind against the door face.
