The KRYLON K00431008 is a 1-gallon alkyd-based rust preventative paint in a gloss Safety Yellow finish. Formulated for direct-to-metal application, it delivers corrosion resistance on steel, wood, and metal surfaces without requiring a separate primer coat. Coverage runs 361 to 369 square feet per gallon. The alkyd composition cures fully in 8 hours and handles working temperatures between 40 degrees F and 120 degrees F, making it suitable for a broad range of field and shop conditions. It ships in a pail container and is rated for both interior and exterior use. Maintenance painters, industrial coating crews, and facilities technicians are the primary installers.
This coating is applied across a wide range of industrial and commercial environments. Typical applications include structural steel, storage tanks, conveyors, ladders, bar joists, fencing, handrails, machinery, piping, metal doors, pipe racks, shelving, safety markings, and marine surfaces above the boot topping. The Safety Yellow color meets common safety marking requirements in plant and warehouse settings. It is equally suited to exterior structural elements exposed to weather as it is to interior equipment and piping in industrial facilities.
Designed for application on steel, wood, and metal surfaces in interior and exterior environments including structural steel, storage tanks, conveyors, ladders, bar joists, fencing, handrails, machinery, piping, metal doors, pipe racks, shelving, and marine surfaces above the boot topping.
Surface preparation is critical before application — remove loose rust, mill scale, oil, grease, and moisture for best adhesion and corrosion resistance. Apply with brush, roller, or conventional spray equipment per standard industrial coating practice. Ensure ambient and surface temperatures remain between 40 degrees F and 120 degrees F during application and cure. Consult local environmental and safety regulations regarding VOC compliance and proper disposal of solvent-based coatings and application equipment.
