The KNIPEX 71 72 610 is a 24-inch bolt cutter built for cutting bolts, chains, wire rope, padlocks, and threaded rod on job sites and service calls. The blades are forged and hardened for high cutting performance, and the standard head geometry keeps the cut path predictable. Steel tube handles with an ergonomically angled design reduce wrist strain during repeated cuts. A forged-in stopper with a built-in shock absorber limits blade overtravel and protects both the tool and the user. At 5.71 pounds, it is heavy enough to handle stubborn fasteners without being unwieldy for one-handed positioning.
This bolt cutter is suited for residential and commercial applications where electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and general contractors need to cut hardened or case-hardened hardware. Typical use cases include removing seized lock hardware, cutting anchor bolts during retrofit work, trimming chain link, and cutting threaded rod to length on rough-in jobs. The 24-inch overall length gives adequate leverage without the bulk of a 36-inch bar cutter.
Designed as a general-purpose bolt cutter suitable for trade professionals cutting bolts, rod, chain, and wire rope up to the rated jaw capacity.
Bolt cutters require no installation, but proper use practices apply. Always inspect the blade edges before use — chipped or misaligned blades can cause the workpiece to slip and create a hazard. Position the stock as deep into the jaw as possible for maximum mechanical advantage and a cleaner cut. Do not use extension pipes on the handles to increase leverage, as this can fracture the handles or damage the blade pivot.
