The KLEIN TOOLS 50044 is a precision ratcheting pipe cutter designed for clean, controlled cuts on PVC, CPVC, and PEX pipe up to 1-1/4 inches (31 mm) I.D. and 1-5/8 inches (41 mm) O.D. The ratcheting mechanism delivers progressive cutting force with each squeeze, reducing hand fatigue on repeated cuts. The die cast aluminum alloy body keeps weight low at 1.25 pounds without sacrificing rigidity. A steel blade handles the cutting load, and a spring-loaded button retracts the blade quickly between cuts. Soft-molded handles provide grip and added leverage. This tool is used by plumbers, HVAC technicians, and pipe fitters working with nonmetallic pipe on residential and light commercial jobs.
The 50044 is suited for cutting Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 PVC, CPVC, and PEX pipe in rough-in plumbing, hydronic piping, and refrigerant line-set work where nonmetallic tubing is specified. Its compact dimensions — 10.25 inches long, 4.5 inches wide, and 1.05 inches in height — make it easy to work in tight spaces such as wall cavities, crawlspaces, and mechanical rooms. The ratcheting action is particularly useful when cutting in confined areas where a full-squeeze motion is not possible.
Designed to cut Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 PVC, CPVC, and PEX pipes with an outside diameter up to 1-5/8 inches (41 mm) and inside diameter up to 1-1/4 inches (31 mm).
This tool is used by licensed plumbers and pipefitters for nonmetallic pipe work. Before cutting, mark the pipe clearly and ensure it is properly supported to prevent movement during the cut. Deburr cut ends before joining to avoid fitting leaks. Follow applicable plumbing codes — IPC and local amendments — for pipe preparation and joint assembly requirements.
