The tapered point allows a technician to start alignment by hand before driving the pin through misaligned holes to bring them into register. At 8 inches in overall length, with a maximum barrel diameter of 13/16 inches and a point diameter of 7/16 inches, this pin is sized for medium-duty structural alignment tasks. Ironworkers, millwrights, and pipefitters rely on barrel drift pins as a standard hand tool on bolted connections.
