The KILLARK XLL-3 is a 1-inch aluminum explosion-proof conduit body designed for use in hazardous location electrical installations. It provides a junction point for conduit runs where direction changes, wire pulling access, or splicing is required in environments where flammable gases, vapors, or combustible dust may be present. Constructed from aluminum, the XLL-3 offers corrosion resistance and a lightweight profile without sacrificing the structural integrity required for explosion-proof service. Licensed electricians and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary installers of this type of fitting.
The XLL-3 is suited for use in Class I and Class II hazardous locations commonly found in petrochemical facilities, refineries, grain handling operations, wastewater treatment plants, and similar industrial environments. Its 1-inch trade size makes it compatible with standard 1-inch rigid metal conduit systems. It is used wherever the conduit system requires an accessible body in compliance with NEC requirements for hazardous location wiring methods.
Designed as an OEM-style fitting for 1-inch rigid metal conduit systems installed in NEC-defined hazardous locations requiring explosion-proof conduit bodies.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the NEC, particularly Article 501 for Class I hazardous locations. De-energize all circuits before opening or installing conduit bodies. All conduit entries must be made with listed fittings to maintain the explosion-proof integrity of the system. Do not exceed the conduit body fill capacity as defined by NEC Table 314.16(C) or the manufacturer guidelines.
