The KILLARK SWB-42 is an explosion-proof junction box designed for use in hazardous location electrical installations. It provides a secure, code-compliant enclosure for wiring connections in environments where flammable gases, vapors, or combustible dust may be present. Measuring 7.62 inches long by 5.87 inches wide by 4.37 inches tall and weighing 3.19 pounds, this box is built to contain any internal ignition and prevent propagation to the surrounding atmosphere. Licensed electricians and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary installers of this type of enclosure.
The SWB-42 is suited for use in Class I and Class II hazardous locations commonly found in petrochemical facilities, refineries, grain handling operations, wastewater treatment plants, and other industrial environments where the NEC requires explosion-proof rated equipment. Its compact footprint makes it practical for panel terminations, conduit junction points, and branch circuit connections in tight or confined hazardous-area installations.
Designed as an OEM-style explosion-proof junction box for use in NEC-classified hazardous locations requiring listed explosion-proof enclosures.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 500 and applicable hazardous location codes. De-energize all circuits and verify lockout/tagout procedures are complete before opening or wiring the enclosure. All conduit entries must use listed explosion-proof fittings and sealing fittings where required by code. Do not substitute standard conduit connectors or non-rated fittings in hazardous location installations.
