The KILLARK SWB-16 is an explosion-proof junction box designed for use in hazardous-location electrical installations. Built to contain and isolate ignition sources in environments where flammable gases, vapors, or dusts may be present, this enclosure provides a ruggedized housing for wiring connections in demanding industrial and commercial settings. The 1-1/2 inch conduit entry size suits standard rigid or IMC conduit runs common in classified-area work. Licensed electricians and industrial maintenance personnel are the primary installers of this type of enclosure.
The SWB-16 is suited for Class I and Class II hazardous locations where explosion-proof enclosures are required by the NEC. Typical applications include petrochemical facilities, grain handling operations, wastewater treatment plants, refineries, and other industrial environments where electrical enclosures must meet strict ignition-containment standards. The 1-1/2 inch entry accommodates conduit systems commonly used in plant and facility electrical distribution.
Designed as an OEM-style explosion-proof junction box for use with 1-1/2 inch conduit systems in NEC-classified hazardous locations.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician familiar with NEC Article 500 requirements for hazardous locations. De-energize the circuit and verify lockout/tagout procedures before making any wiring connections. All conduit entries must be sealed per NEC requirements for the applicable hazardous location classification. Do not substitute non-rated fittings or conduit bodies in the conduit run serving this enclosure.
