The KIDDE EDWARDS KI-IB4 is an isolator base designed for use with Ki Series addressable fire detection devices. Isolator bases protect the integrity of a signaling line circuit (SLC) loop by automatically isolating a short-circuit fault to a defined segment of the loop, allowing the rest of the system to continue operating. This base measures 6 inches in diameter and is installed by licensed fire alarm technicians as part of addressable fire alarm systems in commercial and light industrial applications.
The KI-IB4 is suited for new installations and retrofit projects where loop isolation is required to meet code requirements for Class A or fault-tolerant SLC wiring configurations. It is intended for use with Ki Series detector heads and is mounted at the ceiling in place of a standard detector base wherever fault isolation capability is needed on the loop.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation isolator base for use with Ki Series addressable fire detection devices on compatible addressable fire alarm control panels.
Installation must be performed by a licensed fire alarm technician in accordance with NFPA 72 and applicable local codes. De-energize the fire alarm control panel and follow the panel manufacturer lockout procedures before wiring or mounting this base. Ensure correct polarity and loop continuity are verified after installation before returning the system to service.
