The KIDDE - EDWARDS EOL-4.7 is an end-of-line resistor rated at 47K ohms and 0.5 watts, used in fire alarm and life safety detection circuits. End-of-line resistors are passive supervisory components installed at the terminal end of a wired detection zone. They allow the control panel to continuously monitor circuit integrity and detect open-fault or short-circuit conditions on the loop. This resistor is sold individually and is a standard accessory in fire alarm system wiring and commissioning work.
This component is used in supervised fire alarm detection circuits where the control panel requires a terminating resistance to verify loop continuity. Typical installations include initiating device circuits (IDC) on conventional fire alarm control panels. It is installed by licensed fire alarm technicians or electricians during system installation, zone extension, or service calls involving circuit supervision verification.
Designed as an OEM-style end-of-line resistor for use with supervised fire alarm initiating device circuits requiring a 47K ohm terminating resistor.
Installation should be performed by a licensed fire alarm technician or qualified electrician in accordance with NFPA 72 and applicable local codes. De-energize and place the fire alarm control panel in test mode before servicing any circuit. The resistor is installed at the last device on a supervised zone loop — verify the correct ohm value matches the control panel zone requirements before installation. Do not substitute alternate resistance values without confirming panel compatibility.
