The KENNAMETAL 7096757 is a double-end carbide grooving insert designed for precision groove turning and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the A4G insert style in size code 3, it delivers a cutting width of 0.1200 inches (3.050 mm) and a maximum depth of cut of 0.1180 inches (3.00 mm). The substrate is carbide with a PVD-applied AlTiN coating in the KCU10B grade, which provides elevated hot hardness and wear resistance at the cutting edge. The positive rake geometry and GUP chip breaker promote clean chip evacuation in a range of materials. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers of this insert type.
This insert is suited for grooving, recessing, and undercutting applications in both production and job-shop environments. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard A4-series toolholders using a clamp-style insert holding method. The double-end configuration provides two usable cutting edges per insert, extending tool life per unit. The 0.0080-inch (0.20 mm) corner radius is appropriate for applications requiring controlled surface finish at groove edges. Typical use cases include OD grooving on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces in medium-duty turning operations.
Designed for use with A4-series clamp-style grooving toolholders accepting size 3 inserts. No specific toolholder model numbers were provided in the product data; verify holder compatibility using the A4G insert style and size 3 seat designation before ordering.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and in a safe, locked-out state. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert without over-tightening the clamp screw. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for debris or damage before seating a new insert. Never run a chipped or cracked insert, as carbide fracture under load can cause workpiece damage or injury.
