The KENNAMETAL 7093180 is a TPGT-style triangular carbide turning insert designed for precision finish turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Manufactured from carbide substrate with an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating and KENNAMETAL grade KCU10B, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding cutting environments. The neutral hand orientation makes it suitable for a wide range of tool holders. Key geometry specs include a 0.0313 inch (1/32 inch) corner radius, an 11-degree relief angle, a 60-degree included angle, and a 3/32 inch insert thickness. The LF chip breaker geometry supports light finishing cuts with tight tolerances.
This insert is intended for finish turning applications on materials where a fine surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required. The TPGT style and KENNAMETAL KCU10B grade with AlTiN coating are well suited for high-speed finishing passes on ferrous and non-ferrous materials in production machining environments. It is typically installed by CNC machinists and tool and die professionals in job shop and production settings. The LF chip breaker is optimized for light depths of cut and low feed rates, making this insert appropriate for precision finishing rather than roughing.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement turning insert for TPGT-style tool holders accepting a size 2152 triangular insert with a 3/32 inch thickness and P clearance designation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered off and the spindle fully locked before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert screw to seat the insert correctly in the pocket — do not overtighten by hand. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before seating a new insert. Verify tool holder and insert size code compatibility before use to prevent improper seating or premature edge failure.
