The KENNAMETAL 7090543 is a CNMG-style indexable turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Manufactured from carbide substrate with an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating under the KCU10B grade designation, this insert delivers thermal and wear resistance across a range of turning applications. The diamond-shaped insert geometry (80-degree included angle) with a neutral hand orientation and UP chip breaker provides controlled chip evacuation during continuous and interrupted cuts. The corner radius measures 3/64 inch (0.0469 inch), and the inscribed circle diameter is 1/2 inch (0.5000 inch). Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a direct indexable replacement in compatible turning toolholders.
This insert is suited for medium to finish turning operations where tight tolerances and surface finish quality are priorities. The CNMG style and N clearance code make it a standard fit across a broad range of negative-rake toolholders commonly found in production turning environments. The AlTiN coating supports elevated cutting speeds and dry or minimal-coolant machining strategies. The 4 available cutting edges per insert reduce tooling cost per edge in high-volume turning operations. This part is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 5 units.
Designed as an OEM-grade replacement insert for standard CNMG negative-rake turning toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch inscribed circle insert with N clearance and M tolerance codes.
Turning inserts are installed and indexed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the insert clamp. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for debris or wear before seating a new insert edge.
