The KENNAMETAL 7077009 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance finishing operations in demanding materials. Built to the HA3A series, it features a 0.5-inch mill diameter, six flutes with a close-pitch helical configuration, and a 0.060-inch corner radius that reduces edge chipping and improves surface finish in tight-tolerance work. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal and oxidation resistance, making this tool well-suited for dry or semi-dry cutting at elevated speeds. Licensed HVAC, machining, and tooling professionals specify this cutter for finishing passes where edge integrity and tool life are critical.
This end mill is intended for finishing cuts in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction make it compatible with standard CNC machining centers and manual mills running conventional setups. The long-length configuration with a 1.5-inch length of cut and 3.5-inch overall length allows access to deeper features without sacrificing rigidity. It is a single-end tool with a straight cylindrical shank and is used with standard end mill holders.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (material codes P, M, S, H). Shank diameter is 0.5 inches, fitting holders sized for 1/2-inch straight cylindrical shanks.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine powered down and spindle fully stopped. Secure the straight cylindrical shank in a clean, properly sized end mill holder and torque the set screw or collet to the holder manufacturer specification. Inspect the corner radius and cutting edges for chips or coating damage before each use. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety protocols when setting tool length offsets and spindle speeds.
