Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 7036177 is a WNMG432MV carbide turning insert in the KCP25C grade, designed for precision metal removal on steel and cast iron workpieces. This insert features a multilayer CVD coating of TiN, Al2O3, and TiCN, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability under continuous and interrupted cuts. The trigon insert shape provides an 80-degree included angle and a negative rake geometry. With six cutting edges and a chamfered and honed edge preparation, it balances edge strength with surface finish capability. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in KENLOC-compatible toolholders for turning, facing, and boring operations.

This insert is suited for medium to finish turning applications on steel and cast iron in both production and job-shop environments. The MV chip breaker geometry is optimized for moderate feed rates and depth-of-cut ranges typical of roughing to semi-finish passes. It performs in operations where consistent chip control and coating durability are priorities. The neutral hand orientation allows use in both right-hand and left-hand toolholders, adding flexibility across multiple machine setups.

Key Features

  • KCP25C grade with multilayer CVD TiN/Al2O3/TiCN coating for wear and crater resistance
  • WNMG432MV trigon shape with 80-degree included angle and negative rake for edge strength
  • Six usable cutting edges per insert for extended tool life per unit
  • MV chip breaker designed for steel and cast iron at moderate feeds and depths
  • Chamfered and honed cutting edge preparation reduces micro-chipping on entry
  • Compatible with both clamp and pin insert holding methods

Compatibility

Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders accepting WNMG432 inserts. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO K) workpieces. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards for WNMG080408 insert geometry.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and verify clamp or pin engagement before resuming cuts. Do not exceed the insert's maximum depth of cut rating, and inspect the cutting edge for wear or chipping at regular intervals during production runs.
