The KENNAMETAL 7036160 is a DNMG432MV carbide turning insert in the KCP25C grade, designed for general-purpose metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN and Al2O3 over a carbide substrate, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability at elevated cutting speeds. The insert has a diamond shape with a 55-degree included angle, a neutral hand orientation, and an MV chip breaker geometry with a chamfered and honed cutting edge. With 4 usable cutting edges and a 0.0313-inch corner radius, this insert provides consistent performance across roughing and semi-finishing operations. Licensed HVAC techs, machinists, and CNC operators working in production shops are the primary installers.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. Its primary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron, corresponding to ISO material groups P and K. The KENLOC series mounting system uses clamp and pin holding for secure seating under interrupted and continuous cut conditions. The MV chip breaker geometry is optimized for moderate depths of cut and feed rates in steel and cast iron applications, making this insert a practical choice for both production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use with KENLOC series toolholders accepting DNMG-style inserts. Compatible with steel and cast iron workpieces per ISO material codes P and K. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards for DNMG insert geometry; ISO code DNMG150408MV.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Before changing inserts, confirm the machine is powered down and the spindle is fully stopped. Seat the insert firmly against the pocket locating surfaces and torque the clamp or pin per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new edge, as contamination can cause premature edge failure or dimensional error.
