The KENNAMETAL 7036159 is a DNMG431MV carbide turning insert in the KCP25C grade, designed for general-purpose metal cutting in CNC and manual turning applications. It features a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3 over a carbide substrate, providing thermal resistance and wear life during continuous and interrupted cuts. The insert has a neutral hand orientation, a 55-degree diamond shape, and an MV chip breaker geometry with a chamfered and honed cutting edge. With four usable cutting edges and a 0.0156-inch corner radius, this insert delivers consistent performance across a range of material removal operations. It is installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on turning centers and lathes.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations on steel and cast iron workpieces. The KCP25C grade with CVD multilayer coating is engineered for moderate to heavy cutting conditions where thermal and abrasion resistance are priorities. The MV chip breaker geometry handles a broad range of depths of cut and feed rates on ferrous materials. It fits KENLOC-style toolholders that accept DNMG-style inserts with clamp and pin holding. Typical applications include production turning of carbon steel, alloy steel, and gray or ductile cast iron components.
Designed for KENLOC-style toolholders accepting DNMG-style inserts with clamp and pin holding. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards for DNMG431MV inserts. ISO code DNMG150404MV. Suitable for primary workpiece materials coded P (steel) and K (cast iron).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Power down and lock out the turning center before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert seating tools specified for the KENLOC toolholder to secure the clamp and pin — do not overtighten by feel alone. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
