The KENNAMETAL 7032978 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ISO designation HNGJ0604ANERGM and manufacturer grade KCSM40. It features a hexagon insert shape with a negative rake angle, a honed cutting edge, and a PVD-applied TiAlN plus TiN dual coating designed to extend tool life in demanding cutting environments. With 12 usable cutting edges on a double-sided body, this insert delivers a low cost-per-edge ratio for high-volume milling operations. It is held in the cutter body by a screw and is designed for right-hand cutting. Corner radius is 1.00 mm (0.0394 inches) and maximum depth of cut reaches 3.23 mm (0.2524 inches).
This insert is intended for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, and S. It is compatible with the Kennametal Dodeka cutter series and carries the GM chip breaker geometry, which supports chip control across a range of cutting conditions. Typical applications include face milling and shoulder milling in aerospace, energy, and general metalworking environments where heat-resistant alloys and stainless grades are commonly encountered. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians.

Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom personnel following the cutter body manufacturer's torque and seating procedures. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert. Do not mix insert grades or geometries within a single cutter body, as this can create imbalance and uneven cutting loads.
