The KENNAMETAL 7032977 is a solid carbide milling insert in the HNGJ series, designed for face and shoulder milling applications in demanding metalworking environments. Carrying the KC522M manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied AlTiN coating, this hexagonal double-sided insert delivers extended tool life when cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys including titanium. The insert measures 0.6250 inches in inscribed circle diameter and 0.2655 inches thick. With 12 available cutting edges per insert and a 1.00 mm corner radius, it is engineered for efficient material removal and consistent edge performance. Installation is by screw-holding method, compatible with Dodeka cutter series platforms.
This insert is used in CNC milling operations across job shops, aerospace, and general manufacturing environments. It is suited for both roughing and semi-finishing passes on primary workpiece materials coded P, M, K, and S under ISO classification, covering steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys and titanium. The GM chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation at moderate to aggressive feed rates. Right-hand cutting orientation applies. Maximum depth of cut is 0.2524 inches (3.23 mm). The insert is appropriate for production-volume milling where consistent grade performance and long edge life are priorities.
Designed for use with the Kennametal Dodeka cutter series. Conforms to ANSI code HNGJ43ANERGM and ISO code HNGJ0604ANERGM. Insert size code 43, inscribed circle range 0.6000 to 0.7000 inches, thickness range 0.2500 to 0.3500 inches, length range 0.6000 to 0.6500 inches.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer when tightening the insert screw — do not overtighten. Inspect the cutter body pocket and screw for wear or damage before installing a new insert.
