The KENNAMETAL 7026651 is a CNMG644RN-style indexable turning insert in grade KCP25C, designed for high-productivity metal cutting on CNC and manual lathes. It features a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3 applied over a carbide substrate, providing thermal resistance and wear protection during continuous and interrupted cuts. The insert carries a neutral hand orientation with a chamfered and honed cutting edge, a negative rake angle, and a 0-degree relief angle (clearance code N, tolerance code M). With a 0.0625-inch corner radius and 0.7616-inch insert length, it suits medium to semi-finishing turning passes.
This insert is engineered for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel and cast iron workpieces. The KENLOC series insert seats into compatible CNMG toolholders using clamp-and-pin holding, which provides rigid support during aggressive passes. With four cutting edges per insert and an inscribed circle of 0.75 inches, it is well suited to production turning environments where indexing efficiency matters. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, production facilities, and maintenance shops are the primary users of this insert type.
Designed for use in CNMG-style toolholders compatible with the KENLOC insert-holding system. Primary workpiece materials are steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO K). Suitable for turning, facing, and boring applications. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and clamp-and-pin configuration before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified for CNMG-format toolholders — do not overtighten the clamp screw with an improvised tool. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before seating the new insert, and confirm the cutting edge is fully engaged before resuming operation.
