The KENNAMETAL 7026646 is a CNMG543RN indexable turning insert in grade KCP25C, designed for general-purpose metal cutting in CNC and manual turning applications. The insert features a diamond shape with an 80-degree included angle, a negative rake geometry, and a CVD multilayer coating of TiN, Al2O3, and TiCN applied over a carbide substrate. This coating sequence delivers thermal resistance and wear resistance suited for moderate to high cutting speeds. The insert measures 0.6346 inches in length with a 0.625-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0469-inch corner radius. It is part of the KENLOC series and is installed by machinists and tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is rated for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel and cast iron workpieces, covering ISO material groups P and K. The RN chip breaker geometry handles a range of depths of cut up to 0.2113 inches, making it suitable for roughing and semi-finishing passes. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard CNMG-style toolholders. It is appropriate for both high-volume production runs and mixed-material job-shop turning where a single insert grade needs to handle multiple workpiece materials without frequent grade changes.
Designed as an OEM-style indexable replacement for CNMG543RN-designated toolholders accepting a 0.625-inch inscribed circle, 0.25-inch thick diamond insert with clamp or pin holding. Industry standard number CNMG543RN; ISO code CNMG160612RN. Conforms to ANSI and ISO insert standards.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and clamp hardware specified for the toolholder to avoid insert rocking or micro-cracking. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before securing the insert, and confirm the cutting edge is fully engaged with the clamp or pin before returning the machine to service.
