The KENNAMETAL 7026544 is a DCMT32505FP carbide turning insert with grade KCP25C, designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3 over a carbide substrate, providing wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and interrupted cuts. With a 55-degree diamond shape, a 0.0079-inch corner radius, and an inscribed circle of 0.375 inches, this insert is engineered for finishing and semi-finishing passes. The FP chip breaker geometry and 15-degree positive rake angle reduce cutting forces and improve chip control. Installed by machinists and CNC operators, it is held in place via screw-on clamping.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. Primary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron, corresponding to ISO material groups P and K. The neutral hand orientation supports standard right-hand and left-hand toolholder setups. The insert measures 0.9156 inches in length with a thickness of 0.1563 inches, and delivers a maximum depth of cut of 0.3049 inches. It is applicable in both production-volume turning environments and job-shop applications requiring consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy.
Designed for use in screw-on style DCMT toolholders compatible with the DCMT32505FP insert form factor. Suitable for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring of steel and cast iron workpieces. Confirm toolholder pocket geometry and screw size before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the toolholder pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque — do not over-torque, as this can crack the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert seat and screw for debris or damage before each installation.
