The KENNAMETAL 6769685 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for demanding metal removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials. Built on the H1TE series platform and coated with AlTiN for heat resistance and extended tool life, this single-end mill runs a 4-flute spiral configuration with a variable helix angle of 36 to 39 degrees and variable index geometry. The combination of variable helix and variable index suppresses chatter and improves surface finish across a range of cutting conditions. At 0.315 inches in diameter with a matching 0.315-inch shank, it mounts directly into standard collets or end mill holders. Material grade KCPM15 provides the substrate toughness needed for interrupted cuts and difficult workpiece materials.
This end mill is suited for milling operations in CNC machining centers handling ferrous and exotic alloys in both job shop and production environments. Typical applications include slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in steel and stainless steel components, as well as finishing passes in hardened tool steels and high-temperature alloys such as Inconel and titanium. The center-cutting geometry allows plunge entry, expanding its utility to pocketing operations without a pre-drilled entry point. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction make it compatible with standard spindle rotation on conventional vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers with standard collet or end mill holder tooling accepting a 0.315-inch (8 mm) shank diameter. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), high-temperature alloys (S), and hardened materials (H) per ISO material classification codes.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the recommended gauge-line depth in the holder and apply the specified torque for the collet or set-screw holder type per the holder manufacturer guidelines. Inspect the cutting edge for chips or coating damage before each use; a damaged edge in hardened-material applications can lead to rapid tool failure or workpiece scrap.
