The KENNAMETAL 6763673 is a DNMG431FP carbide turning insert coated with AlTiN via a PVD process and manufactured to the KCS10B grade. It features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a neutral hand orientation, a negative rake angle, and a honed cutting edge. The inscribed circle measures 0.5000 inches, the corner radius is 0.0156 inches (1/64 inch), and insert length is 1.2208 inches. Designed for finishing operations, the FP chip breaker geometry controls chip flow at light-to-moderate depths of cut, making it well suited for precision turning on difficult materials. The insert is held in a KENLOC-style toolholder using a clamp and pin system.
This insert is intended for use in CNC turning centers and manual lathes performing turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. The KCS10B grade targets high wear-resistance to moderate toughness across steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), aluminum and non-ferrous (N), superalloys and titanium (S), and hardened materials (H). Primary workpiece material designations are P, M, K, N, S, and H. It is best applied in finishing passes where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are the priority. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments will find this insert appropriate for close-tolerance work on stainless steel and superalloy components.
Designed for use in KENLOC-style toolholders that accept DNMG-style inserts held by clamp and pin. Fits toolholders configured for ANSI insert code DNMG431 or ISO insert code DNMG150404. Multi-use applications include turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and clamping style before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Ensure the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips or burrs before seating the insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut specified for the insert grade and chip breaker when programming finishing passes.
