The KENNAMETAL 6756004 is a solid carbide turning insert with an AlTiN PVD coating, designed for precision finishing operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the ANSI insert code CNGG432FS and ISO code CNGG120408FS, placing it in the KENLOC series under manufacturer grade KCS10B and material grade S10. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides a strong cutting geometry, while the FS chip breaker and honed cutting edge style deliver consistent surface finishes on demanding workpiece materials. With 4 usable cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, it maximizes value per insert for production turning environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production facilities are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is engineered for finishing passes across a range of workpiece materials, with primary suitability for stainless steel and superalloys and titanium, and additional capability across steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials as indicated by material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H. Typical applications include turning, facing, and boring operations where high wear resistance paired with moderate toughness is required. The negative rake and negative side clearance geometry suit standard clamp and pin insert-holding methods on compatible toolholders.
Designed as an OEM-grade replacement turning insert for KENLOC-series and compatible CNGG-style toolholders accepting ANSI size code 432 or ISO size code 120408 inserts with clamp or pin holding. Specific toolholder compatibility should be verified against KENNAMETAL toolholder documentation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician with the machine fully powered down and in a locked-out state before insert indexing or replacement. Seat the insert fully and evenly in the pocket before tightening the clamp or pin to the toolholder manufacturer's specified holding method. Inspect the insert pocket for chips, debris, or wear before seating a new insert, as contamination affects surface finish and insert life.
