The KENNAMETAL 6686928 is a solid carbide turning insert designated DCGT32505LF in ANSI coding and DCGT11T302LF in ISO coding. It carries a KCS10B manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied AlTiN coating engineered for high wear-resistance across steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum workpiece materials. The insert features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, a 7-degree relief angle, and a honed cutting edge style. With an LF chip breaker geometry, it is optimized for finishing and light machining operations. Machinist and tooling professionals install this insert in screw-on style toolholders for precise, low-force cuts on difficult materials.
This insert is suited for general turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring applications in both production and maintenance machining environments. Its neutral hand orientation allows use on a range of tool stations. The KCS10B grade is classified for primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H, making it particularly effective on stainless steel and superalloys including titanium where edge integrity and coating adhesion under heat are critical. The screw-on holding method provides quick, repeatable indexing between the two available cutting edges.
Designed for use in screw-on style toolholders accepting DCGT-configuration inserts conforming to ANSI size code 32505 and ISO size code 11T302. Meets ANSI and ISO standards as noted in product specifications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine fully powered down and in a locked-out state before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Confirm correct insert orientation and hand before resuming cutting operations.
