The KENNAMETAL 6676998 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. With a 3/8 inch mill diameter and 4 variable-helix flutes, this single-end tool handles both roughing and finishing operations. The 45-degree chamfer angle and 0.0200 inch chamfer width produce clean, consistent edge breaks and chamfers in a single pass. An AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating extends tool life at elevated cutting temperatures, making this end mill well suited to dry or minimal-lubrication cutting. It is used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in job shops, production machining cells, and aerospace component manufacturing.
This end mill fits applications including shouldering, slotting, ramp-down entry, helical interpolation, drill milling, and plunging and recessing. Its right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are compatible with standard CNC milling center spindles. The variable helix and variable index geometry help reduce chatter and harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys and titanium, and hard materials, covering a broad range of production and toolroom work. The straight-cylindrical shank and 3/8 inch shank diameter allow direct clamping in standard collet chucks or end mill holders without adapters.
Designed for use with steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys and titanium, and hard materials. Part of the KENNAMETAL H1TE series. Manufacturers catalog number H1TE4CH0375S050HA.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before loading or changing the end mill. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention hardware per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts; excessive runout accelerates wear and reduces chamfer accuracy.
