The KENNAMETAL 6676984 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for demanding material removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials. Built to the H1TE series specification, it carries an AlTiN coating that supports elevated cutting temperatures and extends tool life in abrasive applications. The cutting geometry features a variable helix angle between 36 and 39 degrees combined with a variable index, which reduces harmonic vibration and improves surface finish at aggressive feed rates. With a 1 inch diameter, 3 inch length of cut, and 6 inch overall length, this tool is sized for full-depth profiling and slotting operations across a wide range of machining centers.
This end mill is suited for CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers in job shop, aerospace, die and mold, and general metalworking environments. The single-end, right-hand cut configuration with a right-hand spiral flute is the standard orientation for conventional and climb milling on ferrous and exotic alloy workpieces. The center-cutting capability allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole. Material grade KCPM15 is a fine-grain carbide substrate optimized for high-hardness and high-temperature alloy applications where tool edge retention is critical.
Designed for use on CNC machining centers accepting a 1 inch straight shank. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), high-temperature alloys (S), and hardened materials (H) per ISO material classification codes.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. Secure the 1 inch shank in a collet chuck, end mill holder, or hydraulic toolholder rated for the shank diameter and confirm runout before cutting. Power down and lock out the spindle before any tool change. Do not exceed the manufacturer-recommended cutting parameters for the workpiece material and coating type; consult KENNAMETAL H1TE series feed and speed data for this grade.
