The KENNAMETAL 6676916 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining environments. Built on the H1TE series platform, this single-end tool features a 0.25-inch mill diameter, a 0.375-inch length of cut, and a 2.0-inch overall length with a 0.25-inch shank diameter. The 4-flute geometry runs a 360 variable helix angle (36 to 39 degrees) combined with variable index spacing to reduce harmonic chatter during aggressive cuts. An AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and hardness retention at elevated cutting temperatures, extending tool life on difficult workpiece materials. This end mill is centercutting and suitable for plunge entry.
This end mill is designed for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials — workpiece material codes P, M, K, S, and H. It fits standard CNC machining centers and manual mills using a 0.25-inch collet or end mill holder. The regular-length profile and 0.937-inch neck length make it well suited for typical face milling, slotting, and peripheral milling operations in job shop and production environments. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration are standard for conventional spindle setups.
Compatible with 0.25-inch collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual mills. Intended for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials per material codes P, M, K, S, and H as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before loading or changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the recommended gauge-line depth and torque the retention mechanism per the holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling.
