The KENNAMETAL 6676490 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding ferrous and exotic alloy applications. Built on the H1TE series platform, it features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and four right-hand spiral flutes with a 36-degree helix angle. The AlTiN PVD coating provides elevated heat resistance and hardness retention at the cutting edge, making this tool effective in dry or semi-dry machining conditions. The centercutting geometry enables both plunge and peripheral milling operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators specify this end mill for finishing and roughing passes where edge integrity and dimensional accuracy are required.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials in both roughing and finishing operations. The long-length configuration with a 1-1/2 inch length of cut supports deeper pocket milling and slot work on machining centers and CNC mills. The Weldon flat shank provides positive drive and minimizes pullout in high-feed applications. It is appropriate for job shop, production, and aerospace-tier machining environments where multi-material capability is needed from a single tool.
Compatible with EM-CV Form AD and EM IN-HSK Form A toolholding systems. Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard selection within the KENNAMETAL H1TE series for 3/8 inch shank milling applications in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is in a safe state before mounting or removing the end mill. Secure the Weldon flat shank in a compatible collet or end mill holder torqued to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and degrades surface finish.
