The KENNAMETAL 6676431 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for demanding metal removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter with a 0.06 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge and extends tool life in both roughing and finishing operations. The four-flute, right-hand spiral geometry runs at a 36-degree helix angle, promoting chip evacuation and stable cutting. An AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating provides thermal resistance and oxidation protection at elevated cutting temperatures. This tool is used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on CNC machining centers and vertical mills.
The 6676431 belongs to the KENNAMETAL H1TE series, a long-length line engineered for deep-reach milling applications where standard-length end mills cannot access the workpiece. With a 2 inch length of cut and 4 inch overall length, it handles deep pockets, slots, and contoured walls in a single setup. Primary workpiece materials include steel (ISO P), stainless steel (ISO M), cast iron (ISO K), superalloys and titanium (ISO S), and hard materials (ISO H). The centercutting design allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual vertical mills where deep-reach corner radius milling is required in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom personnel following standard toolholder torque and runout procedures for 1/2 inch shank end mills. Ensure the toolholder bore and shank are clean and free of chips before seating. Verify axial runout with a dial indicator before production cuts. Follow your machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when setting cutting parameters for solid carbide tooling.
