The KENNAMETAL 6676409 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining applications. Built to the H1TE series standard, it features a 0.5 inch cutting diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and four right-hand spiral flutes with a 36-degree helix angle. The AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating provides heat resistance and extended tool life when cutting ferrous and hard materials. At 3 inches overall length with a 1 inch length of cut, this is a short-length tool suited for rigidity in tight setups. Licensed machinists and CNC operators use this end mill for both roughing and finishing passes.
The 6676409 is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials. Its centercutting design allows plunge entry, making it versatile for slotting, profiling, and pocket milling operations. The straight cylindrical shank at 0.5 inches diameter fits standard end mill toolholders, and the single-end configuration keeps setup straightforward. The corner radius geometry reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge compared to a sharp-corner end mill, improving tool life in aggressive feeds and speeds on hardened or abrasive workpiece materials.
Compatible with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 0.5 inch straight cylindrical shank. Designed for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as indicated by material codes P, M, K, S, and H.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing cuts, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling.
