The KENNAMETAL 6676408 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding material applications. Built to the H1TE series specification, it features a 0.5-inch diameter, a 0.015-inch corner radius, and four right-hand spiral flutes with a 36-degree helix angle. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection during aggressive cuts in hard and abrasive workpiece materials. Centercutting geometry allows plunge entry. This tool suits CNC machining centers and manual mills operated by skilled machinists and toolroom professionals requiring both roughing and finishing capability in a single tool.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials in both roughing and finishing operations. The short flute length and straight cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard end mill toolholders used in production and job-shop environments. Normal pitch fluting and a fixed helix angle support consistent chip evacuation across a range of cut depths up to 1 inch. It is not configured for coolant-through delivery, so external coolant or air blast should be applied at the cutting zone during extended runs in heat-sensitive alloys.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 0.5-inch straight cylindrical shank. Rated for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per the H1TE series material application scope.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per shop safety procedures. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before committing to a production cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling. External coolant or air blast at the cutting zone is recommended when machining superalloys or hard materials with this non-coolant-through configuration.
