The KENNAMETAL 6676406 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding material applications. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and four right-hand spiral flutes with a 36-degree helix angle. The tool carries an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating, which improves heat resistance and tool life when cutting hard and abrasive materials. With an overall length of 2.5 inches and a 5/8 inch length of cut, this is a short-series end mill suited for rigid setups. It is centercutting and capable of both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling specialists are the primary users.
This end mill is engineered for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It fits the KENNAMETAL H1TE series and is built from submicron-grade carbide, which provides the edge toughness needed in interrupted cuts and hardened workpieces. Typical applications include profiling, slotting, and contouring on CNC machining centers where corner edge integrity and surface finish are critical. The straight cylindrical shank mounts directly into standard end mill toolholders without adapters.
Compatible with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch straight cylindrical shank. Designed for use on CNC machining centers processing steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Part of the KENNAMETAL H1TE series.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Use a calibrated torque wrench and the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping procedure to seat the shank securely. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating the first cut, as excessive runout accelerates premature chipping on solid carbide tools.
