The KENNAMETAL 6676403 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for demanding metal removal in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. It features a 7/16 inch cutting diameter, a 0.015 inch corner radius, and four right-hand spiral flutes with a 36-degree helix angle. The tool is coated with AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) via PVD process, providing high heat resistance and extended tool life in dry or high-speed cutting conditions. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry, and is built on the H1TE series platform. Machinists and toolroom operators rely on this geometry for both roughing and finishing passes across a broad material range.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The corner radius geometry reduces edge chipping and stress concentration at the tool tip, making it appropriate for profiling, slotting, and contouring operations where a sharp square corner would be prone to premature failure. The straight-cylindrical shank is compatible with ER single angle standard collets and TT-SS toolholding systems. It is intended for use on CNC machining centers and manual mills where close-tolerance setups are required.
Compatible with ER single angle standard collets and TT-SS toolholding systems. Designed for use in CNC and manual milling applications involving steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as designated by material codes P, M, K, S, and H.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered off and in a locked-out, tagged-out state per applicable safety procedures. Ensure the collet and toolholder are clean and free of debris before seating the shank to the specified gauge line. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating cuts, as excessive runout accelerates wear and degrades surface finish. Consult the machine tool manufacturer and Kennametal cutting data recommendations for appropriate speeds and feeds before operation.
