The KENNAMETAL 6441069 is a solid carbide milling insert grade KCSM40, designed for high-performance face and shoulder milling in demanding metalworking applications. Featuring a square XELT insert style with a positive rake geometry and honed cutting edge, this insert is PVD-coated with a TiAlN and TiN dual-layer finish for extended tool life in abrasive and high-heat cutting environments. The insert measures 16.79 mm inscribed circle and 5.56 mm thick, carries a 1.19 mm corner radius, and provides 4 cutting edges per insert. It is held in place by screw clamping and is designed for single-sided use.

This insert is engineered for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, covering ISO material application codes P, M, and S. It is well-suited for both roughing and finishing passes in CNC milling operations where consistent edge integrity and thermal resistance are critical. The positive rake design reduces cutting forces, making it effective for thin-wall parts and difficult-to-machine alloys. Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC tooling technician or machinist. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw per the cutter body manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert.
