The KENNAMETAL 6413145 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built to HPHV series standards, it features a 0.625-inch diameter, a 2.25-inch length of cut, and a 38-degree helix angle with a variable index design that reduces harmonic chatter during aggressive cuts. The AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting ferrous and hardened materials. This is a single-end, right-hand cut tool with right-hand spiral flutes. It is centercutting capable, making it suitable for plunge entry as well as peripheral and slot milling operations. KCPM15 material grade construction supports use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hardened workpieces.
The 6413145 is suited for CNC milling centers in job shop, production, and toolroom environments. Its 5-inch overall length and 0.625-inch shank diameter fit standard ER and straight-bore toolholders common in vertical and horizontal machining centers. The HPHV series targets high-efficiency milling strategies including high-feed, trochoidal, and dynamic milling toolpaths. Typical users include machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators running steel and stainless applications where heat buildup and tool deflection are primary concerns. This tool does not include a coolant-through feature, so flood or mist coolant delivery at the spindle is the expected cooling method.
Designed for use in standard CNC milling toolholders accepting a 0.625-inch straight shank, compatible with the HPHV series application range covering steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), and hardened materials (H) per ISO material classification.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the end mill from the toolholder. Ensure the shank is fully seated to the minimum clamping depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer before tightening. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, as damaged carbide can fracture under cutting loads.
