The KENNAMETAL 6408094 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill head engineered for precision chamfering and edge-prep operations on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It features a 5/8 inch (0.6250 inch decimal) mill diameter, a 1/8 inch length of cut, and six spiral flutes arranged for right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction. The AlTiN coating provides elevated heat resistance and extended tool life in dry or semi-dry high-speed machining environments. The Duo-Lock 16 interface provides a secure, repeatable connection to compatible modular tooling systems, making head changes fast and precise. This head is installed and run by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill head is suited for chamfering, deburring, and edge-breaking operations on machining centers and CNC mills. Its non-centercutting geometry makes it appropriate for applications where the tool is engaged from the side or plunged only with proper clearance conditions observed. The Duo-Lock 16 modular connection targets medium-diameter tooling setups where rigidity and quick-change capability are both required. The KCPM15 material grade is selected for wear resistance in demanding cutting conditions.
Designed for use with Duo-Lock 16 modular end mill bodies compatible with the Duo-Lock interface system. Confirm body connection size before ordering.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a safe, locked-out state. Torque the Duo-Lock head to the body using the manufacturer-specified tooling procedure for modular connections - do not use improvised methods. Inspect the mating surfaces for chips or contamination before seating the head, as debris at the interface affects runout and tool life. Verify spindle direction and feed parameters in the CNC program before initiating a cut.
