The KENNAMETAL 6393581 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding production environments. Built from solid carbide and coated with AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride), it delivers extended tool life in hard and abrasive materials. The 140-degree split-point geometry reduces walking and improves penetration. At 2.5984 inches overall length with a 1.1024-inch flute, this stub-length bit offers rigidity and reduced deflection compared to jobber-length alternatives. It is sized at 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch / 4.76 mm) diameter and is suited for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine applications where tight tolerances and consistent hole quality are required.
This bit fits typical screw machine and short-hole drilling applications in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, cast iron, and hardened alloys. The AlTiN coating performs well at elevated cutting temperatures, making it a practical choice for high-speed dry or minimal-lubrication machining. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks and collets. With a maximum drilling depth of 0.7874 inch (20.00 mm) and a 4xD flute-to-diameter ratio, it is best applied to shallow, precision holes in production volume work. Installation and use are performed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machines that accept a straight cylindrical shank; the 6.00 mm (0.2362 inch) shank diameter fits standard ER collets and drill chucks in that size range. Part of the Kennametal Series B210 screw machine drill line.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists following standard machine tool safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Verify chuck or collet runout before use, as excessive runout accelerates wear on carbide tooling. Do not use this bit for drilling depths beyond its rated maximum of 0.7874 inch without retracting to clear chips.
