The KENNAMETAL 6388625 is a replaceable drill tip designed for use with compatible KTFSS-series indexable drill bodies. The tip features a 0.7661 inch (19.46 mm) cutting diameter, a 180-degree drill point angle, and is manufactured from fine-grain solid carbide in grade KCP15A. An AlTiN coating applied via PVD process improves wear resistance and thermal stability during high-performance drilling operations. The helical flute geometry, two-flute layout with two margins, and HPG insert geometry support controlled chip evacuation and accurate hole entry. This tip is intended for installation and replacement by machinists and tool-room technicians working on drilling applications in metalworking environments.
This drill tip is suited for drilling steel and cast iron workpieces, including inclined exit conditions and stacked plate configurations. The ISO designation for this insert is KTFSS19460HPGM, and it seats in a size X insert seat. Its functional length is 0.3831 inches and overall height is 0.5465 inches, making it appropriate for modular indexable drill systems requiring periodic tip replacement rather than full tool replacement. Coolant-through capability is not included in this tip configuration.
Designed to seat in KTFSS-series indexable drill bodies using insert seat size X. The ISO insert designation is KTFSS19460HPGM. Verify seat size and series compatibility with the host drill body before installation.
Replaceable drill tips of this type are installed and replaced by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped, locked out, and the tool body is secured in a fixture or vise before removing or seating the tip. Use the appropriate torx or clamp-style key specified by the host tool body manufacturer to achieve proper clamping force - do not overtighten or use improvised tools. Inspect the insert seat for wear or debris before seating a new tip to ensure accurate positioning and full seating contact.
