The KENNAMETAL 6372056 is a straight-shank indexable drill body from the KenTIP FS series, designed for high-efficiency drilling in metal-cutting operations. Built around a replaceable tip system, this drill body accepts KTFS-style insert tips, eliminating the need to replace the entire tool when the cutting edge wears. The body features through-coolant capability, allowing cutting fluid to be delivered directly to the cutting zone for improved chip evacuation and tool life. With a drill depth-to-diameter ratio of 8xD, it is suited for deeper hole applications where a standard drill body falls short. Machinists and tool-room technicians in production and job-shop environments are the primary users.
This drill body is intended for use in CNC machining centers, turning centers with live tooling, and similar machine tool applications. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard collet chucks and toolholders designed for that shank style. The 8xD depth capability makes it appropriate for applications such as deep bolt holes, fluid passages, and other features requiring extended reach without stepping up to a longer solid-carbide or spade drill. The KenTIP FS system is optimized for high-feed drilling in steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials.
Designed for use with KTFS-style KenTIP FS replaceable drill tip inserts. Fits toolholders and collet systems configured for a straight cylindrical shank. Confirm tip series and diameter match before ordering replacement tips.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Before mounting or removing the drill body, confirm the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in an e-stop or lockout state per your facility LOTO procedure. Seat the shank fully in the collet or toolholder and torque the retention hardware according to the toolholder manufacturer specification. When installing the replaceable tip, use the correct KTFS torx or hex key as specified by Kennametal and do not over-torque the tip screw. Verify coolant ports are unobstructed before starting a cut.
